TO SPIRIT KEEPERS
For
centuries primitive cultures have made figurative forms to house
a spirit. These formed images were thought to bring good luck
or protection and to hold special powers. The figures were made
of simple materials and found elements. Often adornments or symbols
that reflect power, happiness or good fortune were attached to the
figures to strengthen the powers of the spirit.
The figures were magical, made from the heart, mind and imagination
of the people. Many ancient cultures believe the power of
the figure is not symbolic but real.
Shelley Rapp Evans is an award winning artist who creates
the "Spirit Keepers" witH all the passion and magic that
comes from the heart.
